Arrival in Gallipoli

Bahá’u’lláh and about 70 exiles spent three nights in Gallipoli in August 1868 en route to ‘Akká. He and His family were under orders to go to the prison city, but others accompanied Him voluntarily. Bahá’u’lláh warned His companions that even greater trials awaited them and that if they wished to protect themselves, they should leave for other destinations immediately. It was a warning that the exiles chose to disregard.
